Merly Trappenberg

​My main element of inspiration are women, with their customs, habits and distractions. Sometimes represented alone or in a group in front of scenery,like a stage. I usually tend to paint strong,voluminous, well-proportioned African-Caribbean women.

For me volume has the meaning of abundance, love and joy. With my paintings I want to expose my island to the world for what it is, a place of celebration with its beautiful architecture, color, joy and optimism.
