CURRICULUM

Bio

Merly was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She has been living in Curaçao since 1970. Later on, she returned for her studies to Venezuela where she obtained her title of Civil Engineering. In her native country Merly was always interacting with art, she took piano lessons at the conservatory of music. Later on in Curaçao, which became her home, she took painting, drawing and ceramic lessons at the “Art Academy of Curaçao”

Often painted scenes represent Curacao, this is very important to me, since we are in the era of globalization and with my art I would like to maintain the culture, customs and traditions of our island,

Curaçao. Merly is also known for her work in mixed media and nudity. Some of her art can be observed at the Governors house, the House of Culture Curacao, at the “Tula” Museum and other instances on the island.
